    Sindelar Covid Plan

    If you are not feeling well, whether you have tested positive for COVID-19, are awaiting test results, or may have the common cold, flu, etc., you are NOT required to attend class virtually. Please rest and get better.

    If you are absent and feeling well, whether you are quarantined due to contact tracing or have tested positive for COVID-19 but are asymptomatic, it is expected that you attend class virtually via google meet during the normal class time. There is a link in google classroom for google meet. Planbook will still be used for daily lesson plans, homework assignments, and handouts.

    • You will be exempted from “Bell Ringers” in the gradebook, but it is still expected that you attempt the problems at home to start each period. 
    • You are expected to take notes, just as if you were in class. It is suggested that you mute your microphone to avoid background noise, but you may certainly unmute your microphone to ask questions. Having your camera on is optional, but it is expected that you are actually at your computer participating/engaging in class and not leaving your computer unattended. 
    • It is expected that you still turn in homework on time. You should submit all homework assignments to google classroom. Please label EVERY PAGE with the typical heading (Name, Course, Date, Period, and Assignment). You may submit multiple assignments/pages into the same “Submit Homework Via Online” assignment in google classroom. I will leave a comment on each page that will either say that I have printed the assignment or a grade has been entered into Infinite Campus. When I “return” the google assignment to you, you may delete these attachments to clear up clutter for future assignments. 
    • You may be asked to complete quizzes and tests during your absence. If this is the case, I will give further instructions. If you have any questions, you may send me an email. If necessary, we can arrange a google meet for additional assistance.

    Intermediate Algebra

    Intermediate Algebra is for students who need a bridge course prior to Algebra II following the completion of Geometry. This course reviews the foundational Algebra skills and concepts necessary for success in Algebra II. It will also help develop concepts for career readiness. Topics in the class are, but not limited to, functions, fractions, compound fractions, logarithms, factoring, solving equations, quadratics, radicals, elementary statistics, probability, finances, graphing, and number systems. Students who with to take this course must be recommended by the high school math faculty and have approval of the high school counselor. 

     

    Algebra II

    Algebra II is designed to build and expand on the topics from Algebra I and Geometry. This course will continue to develop skills in systems of equations and quadratic functions and explore new concepts including polynomial, exponential, logarithmic, rational, and radical functions. Throughout the class we will be utilizing various graphing utilities including graphing calculators and other graphing applications. The contents of this course are important for students to be successful on the ACT and college mathematics entrance exams as well as in Precalculus and beyond. Additionally, Algebra II will continue to develop general problems solving skills that focus on logical thinking and reasoning.

    Statistics

    Statistics is an introductory course that is designed to expose students to the rigors of a college statistics course. This course is intended for juniors and seniors who are planning on continuing their education in college. The concepts that will be studied in this course include an introduction to the major concepts of collecting, analyzing and drawing conclusions from data. Additionally, students will use the appropriate vocabulary to communicate statistical methods, results and interpretations. There will be significant use of graphing calculators and students should have one or have access to one.

    Trigonometry/Precalculus

    Trigonometry and Precalculus is designed to follow Algebra II and Geometry. We will study more advanced concepts of Algebra including polynomial, rational, exponential and logarithmic functions, taking what was learned in Algebra II and deepening our understanding of the subjects. We will also explore key concepts of trigonometry including: right-triangle trigonometry, angles of rotation, radian measure, arc length and areas, trig functions and their inverses, trig identities, and the Law of Sines and Cosines. During this class, we will be relying heavily on graphing calculators and other graphing applications.

    Calculus

    This Calculus class is designed as an introduction to Calculus for students wishing to continue their mathematical careers in high school. This course will focus primarily on Limits and Derivatives with special attention to continuity, rules for differentiation, and applications of differentiation. With anti-differentiation and integration as time allows. During this class, we will be relying heavily on graphing calculators and other graphing applications. This is the preferred prerequisite to Advanced Calculus.

     

    AP Calculus (Year-Long)

    This is the most advanced Calculus course that is offered at Red Lodge High School and is recommended for all students who plan to take Calculus in college. The course places a strong emphasis on preparing to pass the AP test. Throughout the year we will cover three general areas: 1) Functions, Graphs, and Limits 2) Derivatives and 3) Integrals. We will focus on analysis of a graph, limits of functions, asymptotic and unbounded behavior, continuity, derivatives at a point, concepts of differentiation, derivatives as functions, second derivatives, applications of derivatives and integrals, properties of definite integrals, the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, applications of anti-differentiation, and numerical approximations to definite integrals. Upon completion of Advanced Calculus, students will be prepared to take the AP test and if they pass, enter directly into Calculus II in college.
