    Welcome to Fourth Grade!

Hello, I am Mrs. Purcell, and I will be teaching fourth grade Math and Science. I am a third-year teacher, and this is my first year in Red Lodge. I previously taught two years in Joliet. I started in fourth grade Math and Science and moved to seventh grade ELA, Geography, Montana History, and Reading.

When I am not at school, you can find me hunting, fishing, hanging around the Fire Station, or hanging out with my dog.

I am excited for this year with all of you. If you are curious about what is happening in the classroom, take a look at my lesson plans or hop into google classroom. If you have questions, concerns, comments, etc., please feel free to email or call.

        • After the student has completed all three practices, they will be averaged out for one math score for the week.

          • Example: Practice 1- 9/10, Practice 2- 6/10, Practice 3- 10/10, the average score would be 25/30 for 83%.

      • IXL Skills

        • Each IXL skill will be graded off of their “SmartScore.” This score is given based on their progress on the specific IXL skill. This score will be out of 100.

            • No participation= 0

            • A response, but does not relate to the article= 1

            • A response relating to the article= 2

            • Extra credit points= Students can receive up to 5 extra credit points a week on a discussion. If they comment on another student’s post, they will receive 1 extra credit point. If they respond to 5 students’ comments, they will get 5 extra credit points.
