    COMPUTER APPLICATIONS (10004) – Required, Open to grades 9 – 12
    Prerequisite: None

    Computer Applications is designed to prepare the incoming freshman with the specific technology tools and skills they need to be successful here at Red Lodge High School and in today’s constantly changing and demanding work environment. Students will be able to access, manage, integrate and create information. This includes a survey of many different applications, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Prezi, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro.


    ELECTIVE COURSES

    ADVANCED COMPUTER APPLICATIONS (11151) – Elective, Practical Art (CTE), Open to grades 11 – 12
    Prerequisites: Computer Applications; BPA Member; Teacher Approval

    This course is designed for students who are in the Business Professionals of America Club. The advanced course is intended to offer students an introduction to the world of Technology. Students can pursue various aspects of technology with independent projects. Adobe products are pushed heavily and at least two different Adobe programs will be incorporated into the projects. As an advanced course, it provides a deeper understanding of the skills and techniques employed by digital imaging, digital production, and skills in a wide range of applications. This course offers an avenue for students to explore advanced industry standard technologies.

    ACCOUNTING (12104) – Elective, Practical Art (CTE); Open to grades 10 – 12
    Prerequisite: None

    Accounting is a vital role in the day-to-day activities of business. Understanding it helps us understand the fundamentals of any business. In fact, it is so much a part of the business world; much of its terminology has become part of our everyday language. In this challenging class students will explore the concepts, terminology and processes of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The focus is on learning all of the processes behind accounting so we will be doing a large portion by hand.

    COMPUTER SCIENCE (10156) – Elective, Practical Art (CTE); Open to grades 10 – 12
    Prerequisite: Computer Applications

    This course will introduce students to computer programming through CodeHS, college curriculum called Joy & Beauty of Computing and Mobile CSP. The CodeHS introduction to computer science curriculum teaches the foundations of computer science and basic programming in JavaScript. The Joy & Beauty of Computing curriculum is in Python. The Mobile CSP protion is creating apps with MIT app inventor. You can receive dual credit from the Montana School system with this class.

    DIGITAL PRODUCTIONSProductions (11054) – Elective, Practical Art (CTE); Open to grades 11 & 12
    Prerequisites: Computer Applications; ability to work independently, self-motivated, ability to handle freedom around the school vicinity

    Digital Productions using Photoshop CC and Adobe Premiere Pro is a course designed to create an intermediate understanding of digital photo manipulation coupled with video production. Over the course of semester students learn the following: 1. They will learn basic digital photography and intermediate to advanced digital photo manipulation. Students will be given the opportunity to create, modify and display their own digital photo portfolio on a weekly basis. 2. They will learn the basics for filmmaking. It will begin with learning Premiere Pro and following the steps to planning, filming, and creating a good film. 3. Students will learn how to fly a drone and work with the footage. 4. Students may have the opportunity to work with Audition, Illustrator, InDesign, and other audio software and equipment.

    INTRO TO BUSINESS (12053) – Elective, Practical Art (CTE); Open to grades 11-12
    Prerequisites: None

    Course Description: This class is going to introduce you to some of the basics of Business. It will have two major components: Accounting and Economics
    1. You will learn the basics of Accounting. We will make it through the process of Journals and Reports
    2. You will learn scarcity and growth, opportunity cost, open markets, labor markets, incentives, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

    PERSONAL FINANCE (02154) – Elective, Practical Art (CTE); Open to Grades 10-12
    Prerequisites: Algebra 1

    Provides students with the skills needed to solve mathematical problems and use the information to make business decisions and enhance personal and responsible finances, and business management duties. Units will include: Getting a job, Calculating Payments, Checks, Calculating Wages and Income, Meal Planning and Saving Money, Calculating a Budget, Medical and Car Insurance, Interest and Investing, Buying a Car and a House, Home Improvements, Avoiding Debt, Planning for College, and Managing Money. A portion of this class will also include Youth Entrepreneur curriculum.

    PHOTOSHOP/FILM (11054) – Elective, Practical Art (CTE); Open to grades 11 & 12
    Prerequisite: Computer Applications

    Photoshop/Film will explore Adobe’s Photoshop and Premiere Pro programs. Students will do various projects in Photoshop. The goal is to take this program to the next level and become proficient in Photoshop. In the film portion, students will learn the basics of filmmaking. We will deal with script, storyboard, filming, and production. Students need to be self-motivated in the creation of film.
